When we get a single charred barrel bourbon, you know you got a great opportunity for something good..  Regardless of the name, it could rock but then again it could suck..   Well, we skipped the single barrel and went with a Double-Barrel Whiskey from Jim Beam.   It was Jack last week, so we needed to step up with some Jim this week.   The bottle is open, the review is on..  What happened?   Did we talk whiskey?   Yes, we did..  Find out what we thought of it..   Train..  Train..

Thanks to a visit during Bourbon Fest in Indianapolis, one of the hosts had the opportunity to not only test but purchase a bottle of whiskey from Jack Daniels.    Alright, so that isn’t that big of a deal but for $15, we certainly stumbled upon some high price whiskey to sample the entire day and then buy it at a reduced cost.   Does that sound like a bigger deal?   Well if it does, then you should go and try a bottle of Jack Daniels Single Barrel Rye, at full price or free if you have a friend who purchased a bottle.   That is what we did this week since Eric purchased the bottle.   Where does it rank in 2017?   Maybe the name gives a hint..  Maybe not..  Find out during this podcast..   Train..  Train..

We have kicked the rust off the wheels and are out of the gate running in 2017.   With each week, we are bringing in a new whiskey for our tasting and review sessions.   Well this week, we have the 10 year Russell’s Reserve Bourbon sitting in our great GlenCairn Whisky Glasses ready for our review.   This was a cliff hanger choice after our week 1 selection of 2017..  How is the best way to you enjoy it?  Well you are 30 minutes away from that answer..   Train.. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand..  We back!!!   After our holiday break to re-charge some batteries, we kicked off 2017 with a unicorn..   We kicked it off with a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle (12 year) thanks to the outstanding efforts of Eric..   Not only did he win a bottle at Pappyfest (or Bourbonfest) in Indianapolis but he gave it as a house-warming gift as we officially opened our new studio.   How did 2017 start?   How will it end?   You know what, we are so excited to be back behind the mics..  Check out the podcast and find out how the Pappy went..  Train..  Train..

When you look down the line of whiskey’s you have sampled over the past year, it is really difficult to find those who would be the best of the best.    Granted, it doesn’t take as much effort to remember those that didn’t make the cut during our podcast reviews.   Some we loved, some we hated, some we wouldn’t even share with our buddies when we wanted to mess with them..    We created this podcast for a quick thank you..  Thank you to our friends, our sponsors and maybe even an apology for a review that we might have got wrong…   Quick and simple ready for 2016..  Train..  Train..

It is that magical time of the year when the alcohol tastes just that much better when you are stuck with mixed company.    That magical time of the year when the whiskey make everybody just that much more tolerable or entertaining.   Well as the guys are gearing up for Christmas, we are drinking some 100.1 proof Rowans Creek whiskey.   Because we didn’t want to only have 100 proof whiskey, we needed that .1 one to really kickstart our holiday season.   How did this review go?   How will we end 2016?      We only know that next week, we will have another whiskey..   Train.. As we start to close out 2017, we had a complete first when it came to our whiskey selection.   When you were in college, you might have choose cheap over quality..   Well you always laughed when you picked up a bottle of alcohol and it was in a plastic bottle..   Well this week, we brought in that plastic bottle of whiskey and we brought back our buddy Patrick..   Patrick might be on the short end of our selections because in this episode, we were drinking some Kentucky Tavern.   Don’t worry, we weren’t going to leave the light on for this episode when you fine this tavern..   Check out more in this entertaining podcast..  Train..  Train..

One of our favorite bottles of whiskey would be a delightful bottle of Basil Hayden.   That is certainly our go-to-whiskey when we are just sitting around at the bar and grabbing one off the shelf.   What both hosts learned, Basil was honored with a bottle of whiskey that was created by his grand-son   I guess it does make sense that Hayden created Old Grand Dad in honor of his grandfather.  So this week, we are drinking Bottled In Bond, Old Grand Dad, 100 Proof Whiskey..  It is certainly a throat catcher with the spice and taste which really split both hosts on our enjoyment of this whiskey.   Train..  Train..

Who knew that prohibition could cause somebody to cross a river and become extremely successful in Canada?    This week’s spirit was successful in the United States, got pushed out of the country because somebody thought prohibition was a good idea so got successful in Canada and now is successful all over the world.    We had some 12 year Canadian Club Small Batch Whisky in this weeks episode.   This episode can prove one point to one of the hosts, a name doesn’t mean the whisky is going to be bad..  Try it, you might like it..   So check out this great podcast..  Train..  Train…

We are some hosts when it comes to Thanksgiving.   We aren’t only lining our tables with some great Turkey and fixing but quenching our thirst with some Wild Turkey 101.   Our GlenCairn Glasses were filled with Whiskey and we were entertained by our original guest sitting in the Hotel Tango Guest Seat, Patrick.   Patrick made his return after a day of waiting over night for his spot on the show, so really this was his attempt at getting ready for Black Friday.   Well what happens when you mix 101 proof whiskey with guys who were ready to drink?   Pure magic..   Train..  Train…

It is never a bad time when you find a spirit you haven’t seen in years..  Even better when you get to have that experience all over again with some George Thorogood..  One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer with some awesome Forty Creek Barrel Select Canadian Whisky..  Yes, for the second time in the past few episodes, we brought in a Canadian Whisky for our review and drinking pleasure..  How did this turn out?   Did we declare a winner OR do we need to keep drinking??   We all know that answer but check out this podcast…  Train..  Train…

It is always special when we get to have some returning guests to the rails.   It is even easier when the trio of individuals are bartending and this is a great way to fuel the day.   As we were recording just before Halloween, we saw some promotional advertising for Monkey Shoulder.  It was labeled as Halloween’s Dracula Blood and we figured tis the season to scare and drink..   Lets bring it into the rails.    Did we scare anybody during this episode?    Are we still alive following the ghosts in the bar?   Did Uncle Bob make it through another episode?   All of these questions will be answered during this podcast..  Train..  Train…

When you sit down at a bar, there are always common bottles that are staples for drinkers..  One of those bottles is a beautifully designed bottle of Crown Royal.   The crown jewel of our brothers to the north and one of the most popular Canadian whiskey’s across the world.   Well we hadn’t brought this bottle into the rails and it was not overly received by one of the hosts.    What did we think?   How did it end up?   Where did we get those Cuban cigars?   All of those questions will be answered during our podcast..   Train..  Train…

Our hosts are all geared up for an upcoming cruise and we had a serious case of day dreaming while drinking whiskey.    We were fueled with some 107 proof Bakers Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey while we were sitting in our “construction project studio”..    We were smoking a cigar during this episode but we decided to give that Bugatti Cigar its own podcast for a review because 107 proof really gets you going when you are running on empty.    Enjoy some whiskey banter and hop on board for this whiskey train..  Train..  Train..

Eric had so much pain the first time we tried some Rebel Yell, Rob only felt it was time to double his pain with some Rebel Reserve for our featured whiskey of the week..  So if the first round was a drink from the rails, where does this rank?    Well on the first-third, sponsored by Cigars International, we were smoking some Sons Of Anarchy Clubhouse Edition cigars, which took us out on Route 66 with Jax and Ron Pearlman.   Yeah, ADD was in full effect on this show and there was even a temper-tantrum.   Stay tuned for this entertaining podcast..  Train.. Finally took a rye off our shelf, which Eric has been wanting to open for nearly a month.   It isn’t every day when you have to monitor the cameras to make sure he hasn’t opened up the whiskey of the day to try it early..   He is a sneaky one..    Which this week we finally opened the High West Whiskey Double Rye and paired it up with the best cigar for the story.  A Bugatti Ambassador cigar was waiting in our humidor for this pairing because what goes better with a Rye, a Bugatti cigar..  Check out this podcast and stay tuned for our next derail..   Train..  Train..

Just like back to the future, we all gotta go back in time.   Well for our hosts, today’s bourbon was sort of a trip down memory lane.   We broke out some Beer Barrel Bourbon from New Holland Brewing.   A stout barrel housing some aged bourbon equals what in a drinking equation?   Well you can certainly find out in this episode.   Plus we got to enjoy one of Eric’s favorite cigars, Nub by Oliva (Connecticut) as we took a walk down memory lane and enjoyed his favorite cigar.    What was the answer to the equation?   What was the final result?   Why did we have to make an apology to Bono?   All these answers can be answered in our podcast..    Train..  Train..

When you got a favorite rye whiskey, shouldn’t it be a given you need to try its bourbon brother for a review?   It is time and we finally decided to break out the bourbon brother of a favorite rye we had in the past.   We are huge fan of Bulleit Rye and really use that as our “compare against” flavor when it comes to almost any rye we review on our podcast.  Well in this podcast, we brought out Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey and paired it up with a Bugatti Quattro San Andres Maduro cigar for a complete flavor experience.    Life in the fast lane was good today and find out how good it was during this podcast..  Train..  Train…

Kicking off the recording rust is never easy to do following a vacation.  Well in this episode, we certainly had some rust since we hadn’t recorded in a week however thanks to a venture through Wisconsin we picked up some new great whiskeys and bourbons.   We are drinking some youthful bourbon from the Central Standard Distillery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.    We paired the bourbon with a Bugatti San Andres Claro Cigar, which you can pick up at Cigars International.   It took us a minute or two to get going in this episode however we had two great products to get us up and going.   Train..  Train..
